Arthur Waterhouse

British author. Lived in Blackpool, Lancashire, UK. He wrote a number of good children's adventure type books including a couple which featured dogs. Probably his most well-known books are those of the 'Fells' series set in the Lake District. For more about this series see link. As far as I know he only wrote one pony book, which is a shame as it is a pretty good read.

SUMMARY: When Farmer Webster buys a scruffy horse at an auction by mistake, his daughter Brenda falls in love with the horse and restores him back to health, with the help of her friend David. They decide to call the horse Connemara Jim in homage of his possible Irish ancestry. But Jim is due to be returned to the next auction...can the children persuade the farmer to keep him?

Although not common, this is a fairly easy book to find on internet book sites and is usually fairly cheap, especially without jacket.
